The first days of Wyatt Elrond Troxell Born in Santa Cruz, CA on October 15th 2001 at 4:02:54 a.m. PDT He was 20 inches long and weighed 7lbs 4oz. The Birth Story with pictures: Daria starting having contractions at 7:30 a.m. on October 14th. We had a normal day - visited people and such. At around 5:30 p.m. the contractions were about 6 minutes apart. At 10:00 p.m. we called the hospital and told them we were coming. The contractions were 4 minutes apart and about a minute and a half in duration. We arrived at Dominican Hospital at 10:30 p.m. Daria was at 6cm dilation and contractions were 3-4 minutes apart. Daria and the baby were monitored for about an hour.  (images can be clicked on to see a larger version) After a bit Daria took a hot bath which lasted about an hour. She felt the urge to push in the bath and we all went back to the delivery room. She was at 10cm and ready to deliver. Daria and Lyle focusing on breathing... 
 Daria resting...  Pushing...  Our midwife was Leora Fromm. She was very calm, knowledgeable and helpful. Here is Leora and Lyle watching Daria labor. Lyle is holding Daria's left calf. You can see the mirror for Daria to be able to watch, which she didn't do much because of the immense pain and focus she endured.  After 2 hours and 10 minutes of pushing Wyatt arrived (we didn't have a name or even know he was a boy). Lyle cutting the umbilical cord...  The new family about 2 minutes after birth...  He was 7lbs 4oz and very healthy. In fact, only minutes old, he started feeding...  A bunch of pictures... 
Meconium, a baby's first few poops, is black and tar like. Wyatt's had no smell. You can see his 3rd Meconium poop. - it's fairly nasty. Wyatt had the standard tests and such. His ear tests entertained me and educated a group of trainees...

 Double baby fun... on the 16th aunt Marina visited with cousin Ariana. Wyatt and Ariana... 
 It was a kick to share the experience with others. 
 Ariana is quite a character.  The brief visit drained Wyatt of his energy.  And we were able to focus on all his little bits and pieces. 
 We took a few "leaving the hospital shots" and headed home. 
 Yippy!  Now we are home and learning what it is to be parents.
