Diana's Portraits
After years if painting landscapes, interiors, facepainting, and stage sets, I received a comission to copy Picassos' portrait of Gertrude Stein. As I worked, I could feel the love that they had for each other in each line, magically preserved for all time. Then I painted my friend Betsy ([Morris' Daughter|13/]) and fell in love with her in the process. I had known her for years, a good friend, but now I could feel her, touch her soul. As I worked on each folowing portrait, I fell in love again. I spend hours on each face, and see the person’s history recorded in the map of tissue and muscle. The older the person, the more information is recorded—the million times they laughed, cried, flinched, its all there. I lost myself and saw who these people really were—magnificent souls expressing themselves through flesh. If you would like to order a portrait, contact me, I will come to you and take a series of photos, then we will decided together which photo to use. You can have the photo when I deliver the painting. My prices are very reasonable.
